Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association – LETERA was founded in 1995 to represent the interests of its members and promote the growth and popularization of the industry.

LETERA unites companies, research and educational institutions operating in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics, optical equipment, information technology and telecommunications, defense equipment, aviation and space technology.

VISION

• LETERA was founded to establish and defend the interests of its members to contribute to the development and promotion of the sector, as well as the promotion of cooperation with other industry associations in Latvia and similar organisations abroad.
• LETERA wants to advise the government and State administrative institutions and to provide support to Latvia in the most efficient and most practical way to implement European Union legislation, as well as express proposals electronics and electrical engineering, and related sectoral legislative development.
• LETERA wants to promote educational and scientific developments, the establishment of new enterprises, of the existing economic and technical developments, as well as to create a favourable environment for innovation, to encourage the creation of new products with high added value.
• LETERA wants to work in the sector to be based on European and global business, fair competition and free trade, which is based on the principles of fair and equal conditions for all companies.

TASKS:

• To represent the interests of industry
• To contribute to the work of the sector to be based on the European and global free trade, fair competition and fair trade principles.
• To advise the Latvian government and administrative institutions and to provide support to the most efficient and most practical way to implement European Union legislation.
• To make proposals to the legislative development of the industry.
• Promoting educational and scientific developments, the establishment of new businesses, economic and technological development in industry.
• To create a favourable environment for innovation in the sector which would encourage the creation of new products with high added value.
• To promote cooperation among members, including cooperation in the field of technology and industry, as well as international business relations.

LETERA methods:

• Participation in national and local government institutions, the Commission and the expert working groups and councils to work within the framework of their competence, give opinions and proposals regarding the issues to be resolved;
• To request and receive from State and local government institutions the necessary information;
• By creating working groups and clusters, LETERA represented by corporate interests.
• Participation in cooperative projects and the implementation of projects financed by The European Union.
• Cooperation with other Latvian non-governmental organisations.
• Cooperation with other national and international non-governmental organisations, as well as involvement in activities of international non-governmental organisations;
• Other activities pursuing goals and objectives of LETERA.
